Model MRM-1215G Infrared Heater

Benefits

Kalglo's model MRM-1215G electric infrared heater is an ideal source of warm, penetrating, therapeutic infrared (IR) heat. Since the heater is almost 5 1/2 feet long, it provides a large heat pattern to cover your entire body when the heater is suspended approximately 2 feet above the reclined user. A shorter MRM-1208G model is available for use in smaller areas. Both models have a built-in, electronic dimmer control which allows the adjustment of the amount and wavelength of infrared heat output. Simply set the control knob for the intensity of output to suit your personal comfort level. The heat is pure infrared, no UV (ultra-violet) tanning rays! The warm radiant infrared heat stimulates blood circulation to the heated area and also relaxes you, which is the underlying principle of IR therapy.

Features

MODEL VOLTS WATTS AMPS LENGTH HEIGHT WIDTH WEIGHT
MRM-1215G 120 1500 12.5 65" 5.5" 5.5" 12 lbs
MRM-1208G 120 800 6.7 35" 5.5" 5.5" 8 lbs

Both models have a triangular shaped aluminum heater body with a baked on beige enamel finish, protective guard grill over the heating element, and a heavy duty insulated 7 ft. power cord with a grounded molded plug. Complete hanging chain (13 ft. to be cut in half) and hardware is provided so the heater is ready for you to hang up, plug into a 120v GFCI protected outlet, and use. The heater has a durable metal sheath heating element that will last for many years! If full output is too hot for you, adjust the built-in electronic intensity control until you have found your desired comfort level. The control has a 0-100% adjustable output range which enables the Kalglo heater to provide an even heat output at any setting. Decreasing the intensity control setting will also save on electric use and operating cost, but be sure to keep the output setting hot enough to achieve the full therapeutic value of the infrared heat. After several uses you will learn the optimum setting for you to achieve the desired results, relaxation and reduction of aches and pains in sore muscles and joints.

Typical Location - Finished Basement:
Heater suspended from drop ceiling rails, plugged into a portable GFCI outlet, subject on a floor excercise mat.

Installation/Operation

Finding a suitable location for the heater should not be difficult. Pick an area with no drafts. Plug the heater into a GFCI outlet - portable GFCI's are available from W.W. Grainger if a hardwired GFCI outlet is not accessable. Hang the heater so you can lay down lengthwise underneath it on a comfortable bench, massage table, or just an area on the floor using an exercise mat or beach towel, so the infrared heat will be concentrated from your neck down to your feet. Note, like the sun's rays the infrared rays heat whatever they strike, so you can preheat the bench surface for a few minutes if desired before you lay down, but be careful not to get the area too hot. The heater should be about 2 feet from your exposed skin surfaces. The mounting height and intensity control setting should be adjusted after using the heater a few times to achieve maximum comfort and effectiveness. The infrared heat is most effective on bare skin, so wear either a bathing suit or just under garments. Using this heater is like sunbathing, but without the harmful ultra-violet tanning rays. After approximately 10 minutes on each side, front and back, you will feel the therapeutic value of the infrared heat. Switch from front to back exposure as often as you wish. Some people enjoy listening to music during their session under the heater so you may wish to try that too. Also, if desired, the heater can be connected to a plug-in or hardwired mechanical timer switch to turn the heater off automatically after the desired length of time, i.e., 30 minutes to 1 hour. Mechanical timer electrical switches can be obtained from your local hardware or home supply centers.

Note: These two heater models are not designed for use in a dry sauna room where high air temperatures are maintained. Do not use heater in areas where the air temperature will exceed 95 degrees F. This is an alternative approach to traditional dry sauna and high air temperatures are not needed to obtain the benefits with this heater.
